Week 7 Fanduel Matchup Highlights

Playing daily fantasy sports is all about matchups. For example, in a week when Calvin Johnson is matchup up with Darrelle Revis and Mike Wallace is going up against some no-name cornerback, you should take the lesser talent in Wallace because he has the better matchup for the week.

The rankings used in this article are from Football Outsider’s Defensive Efficiency Rankings.

QuarterBacks

Aaron Rodgers (vs. CAR, 23rd against pass): $9,700

Joe Flacco (vs. ATL, 28th against pass): $7,700

Blake Bortles (vs. CLE, 26th against pass):  $7,000

Carolina’s defense led the team to playoffs last year, but things change quickly in the NFL. The Panthers defense is now one of the worst in the league, especially in pass coverage. Aaron Rodger should have no problem picking this weak secondary apart.

You may be hesitant to pick up Bortles due to him being on a Jaguars squad that is perennially devoid of weapons, but he is worth his low salary. Last week Bortles threw for 336 yards and a touchdown and picked up another 38 yards on the ground. Those aren’t garbage time yards either, as this game was competitive to the last second. Bortles should be able to put up similar stats against a Browns secondary whose one true talent, Joe Haden, has struggled so far this year.

RunningBacks

DeMarco Murray (vs. NYG, 20th against run): $9,400

Arian Foster (@ PIT, 19th against run): $9,100

Le’Veon Bell (vs. HOU, 24th against the run): $8,400

Eddie Lacy (vs. CAR, 27th against the run): $7,700

If DeMarco can rush for 100+ yards against Seattle, he can rush for 100+ yards against anybody, especially a Giants defense that is much better defending the pass than the rush.

Lacy has a premium matchup against Carolina that should not be ignored. His lack of production so far this season is due to facing a lot of tough matchups (Seattle, Detroit, New York, and Miami all boast top 10 run defenses). The last time he faced a weak run defense (Week 5 against the Minnesota), Lacy finished with 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.
