NFL Fantasy Football Matchup Cheat Sheet: Denver Broncos
In NFL daily fantasy leagues, matchups are important. Pay attention to favorable matchups rather than the overall quality of individual players. It is better to select an above-average offensive player facing poor to average defense than an elite talent facing above-average to elite defense.
Each position in ranked according to one of these four ratings: Elite, Above-average, Average, and Poor.
Offense
QB Peyton Manning: Elite
RB Montee Ball: Average
WR1 Demaryius Thomas: Above-average
WR2 Emmanuel Sanders: Average
Slot WR Wes Welker: Above-average
TE Julius Thomas: Above-average
O-line: LT Ryan Clady, LG Orlando Franklin, C Manuel Ramirez, RG Louis Vasquez, RT Chris Clark: Above-average
With 3 above-average receiving threats, a solid line, and the best arm in the game, Peyton Manning is the absolute best fantasy quarterback. He will be the most expensive player of any position on most weeks, but when he is facing a poor to average defense, try to take value players at other positions so you can fit him on your roster.
Defense
CB1 Aqib Talib: Above-average
CB2 Bradley Roby: Above-average
Nickel CB Chris Harris: Above-average
Safeties: SS T.J. Ward, FS Rahim Moore: Above-average
Linebackers: WLB Danny Trevathan, MLB Nate Irving SLB Von Miller: Above-average
D-line: DE Derek Wolfe, DT Terrence Knighton, DT Sylvester Williams, DE Demarcus Ware: Above-average
The additions of Talib and Roby should transform this secondary from one of 2013’s worst to one of 2014’s best. Terrence “Pot Roast” Knighton, Demarcus Ware, and Von Miller also give the Broncos a formidable front 7, and former Brown T.J. Ward will be a factor against the run. The Broncos dumped a lot of money into improving this defense in the offseason, and on paper the investments in Talib, Ward, and Ware should improve Denver’s odds of makings another Super Bowl run.
