NFL Fantasy Football Matchup Cheat Sheet: Chicago Bears
In NFL daily fantasy leagues, matchups are important. Pay attention to favorable matchups rather than the overall quality of individual players. It is better to select an above-average offensive player facing poor or average defense than an elite talent facing above-average or elite defense.
Each position in ranked according to one of these four ratings: Elite, Above-average, Average, and Poor.
Offense
QB Jay Cutler: Above-average
RB Matt Forte: Above-average
WR1 Brandon Marshall: Elite
WR2 Alshon Jeffery: Above-average
Slot WR Domenik Hixon: Average
TE Martellus Bennett: Above-average
O-line: LT Jermod Bushrod, LG Matt Slauson, C Roberto Garza, RG Kyle Long, RT Jordan Mills: Average
The Bears may possess the most complete passing attack in the entire NFL. As long as Cutler remains healthy, Forte, Marshall, Jeffery, and Bennett will be top receiving options, especially in fantasy leagues that award points per reception. When facing a team with an elite or above-average CB1 and the rest of the secondary just average opt for Jeffery and take advantage of the attention Marshall receives.
Defense
CB1 Tim Jennings: Average
CB2 Peanut Tillman: Average
Nickel CB Kyle Fuller: Average
Safeties: SS Ryan Mundy, FS Chris Conte: Poor
Linebackers: WLB Lance Briggs, MLB D.J. Williams, SLB Shea McClellin: Poor
D-line: DE Lamarr Houston, DT Ego Ferguson, DT Jay Ratliff, DE Jared Allen: Average
The addition of Houston, Ferguson, and Allen will help a line that was worst in the league against the run last year. Fuller will also help this defense, but even still, every piece is either average or poor. There is no reason not to take an offensive player of any position against the Bears.
