Josh Gordon to Benefit from New NFL Drug Policy
Browns fans rejoice: star wide out Josh Gordon, who led the NFL in receiving yards by a comfortable margin last year, will see the field this season. The league’s new drug policy has rolled back the punishments for marijuana use, and the effects are retroactive so Gordon is no longer banned for the entire 2014 season.
Before you get too excited, be aware that Gordon is still banned for 10 games and his first game back is over two months away, a Week 12 road game against the Falcons.
When he does get back, Gordon will be happy to see that he is no longer the Browns’ only effective wide receiver. Andrew Hawkins, a free agent pick-up from Cincinnati, is well on pace for the best season of his career, posting a productive 157 yards on 14 receptions over the first two games of the season. A Gordon – Hawkins duo will give opposing defenses something to fear, and the Browns offense hasn’t been feared in quite some time.
