Bills WR Mike Williams Could Be on the Move Via Trade

The Buffalo Bills swung a trade earlier this summer to land disgruntled wide receiver Mike Williams from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It seemed like a good idea at the time, as the team needed a replacement for departing starter, Stevie Johnson.

It hasn’t really worked out, unfortunately, and it appears Williams is disgruntled again. That, and first round rookie Sammy Watkins has mostly panned out already in his first season, helping to make Williams expendable.

So, with Williams being granted permission to seek out a second trade within the past league year, where could be possibly go in 2014? Let’s break down his top five potential landing spots:

Cleveland Browns

Josh Gordon is due back by week 12 and it seems the 3-2 Browns are getting by just fine, but imagine how much better their offense could be with another proven receiver? They reportedly entertained the thought of trading for Andre Johnson, but here they could get a solid player for a much lower asking price.

Kansas City Chiefs

KC discovered talented tight end Travis Kelce, but they still have needs at wide receiver. After whiffing on improving the position over the summer, could Andy Reid and co. make amends by trading for a quality #2 to line up across from Dwayne Bowe?

Carolina Panthers

Kelvin Benjamin has been a pleasant surprise, but outside of the talented rook, who does Cam Newton have to throw to? The Panthers could to themselves a favor and land Williams to help make up for a lackluster off-season at the wide receiver position.

New England Patriots

While the Bills may not be believing Williams can still be a stud right now, he definitely has the talent to prove them wrong. The Pats sorely need playmaking in their passing game, but would the Bills really trade him away to a division rival? The need is there, so we can’t rule it out.

Oakland Raiders

Oakland seems to have a good amount of young talent at wide receiver, but this is still the Raiders we’re talking about. Perhaps the silver and black brass would deem adding Williams as a positive for rookie passer, Derek Carr.
