2014 NFL Draft: Top 10 Players Still Available For Day 3

The first two days of the 2014 NFL Draft have come and gone. The drama of Johnny Manziel from day one is now a thing of the past, while we finally saw a running back selected in round two at the 57th overall spot (latest ever in history for the position).

What kind of drama can we expect for day three? All of the big names that were invited to the Green Room at Radio City Music Hall are cleared out, but there are still some pretty recognizable names that fans will not only recall, but may want their favorite teams to pluck off the board.

A lot of value can still be had in rounds 4-6, especially with some of the talent that is left over. Let’s take a look at ten guys that could go down as major steals on the draft’s third and final day:

Zach Mettenberger, QB, LSU

The prototypical passer with elite size and arm strength, Mettenberger has faced top level competition and is the ideal pocket passer. Questions about his knee and back have crushed his stock.

Ka’Deem Carey, RB, Arizona

An explosive runner who has all the tools of a feature back, Carey has mostly suffered from the running back position being undervalued. Stock is also affected by character concerns.

Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor

Seastrunk is an athletic back with good speed and vision. Like Carey, his stock has dipped a bit due to character concerns.

Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin

Not the most explosive receiver in the draft, Abbrederis provides value with his solid size and speed, as well as his elite versatility. He’s a strong candidate to be taken in round four.

Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee

A first round talent with considerable upside, Richardson has the size and length you look for in a tackle. He’s still a bit raw and needs to be more assertive on a consistent basis. It’d be shocking if he slid out of the fourth round, however.

David Yankey, OG, Stanford

Yankey’s fall has been a surprise, as he’s at least a borderline round one talent thanks to elite versatility and great size. He struggles against quicker, more athletic defenders, but he can play inside or out and has great strength. He’s another strong candidate to go in round four.

Christian Jones, OLB, Florida State

Jones is a strong tackler and elite athlete. Some teams may struggle with his clear role at the next level, whether it be as a defensive end in a 4-3 or a rusher outside linebacker in a 3-4. He’s probably best suited for a 3-4 system.

Marcus Roberson, CB, Florida

Roberson lacks strength and is inexperienced, but certainly doesn’t lack talent. He’s a surprise faller to round four, as he could excel in a zone system and faced good competition at Florida.

Craig Loston, S, LSU

Loston is a smart safety with great size and instincts. His struggles with health and pass coverage may have caused him to slide further than many expected.

Dion Bailey, S, USC

Bailey, like Loston, has the physical tools to become a solid starter at the next level and could have easily been a second round pick. Questions about durability and whether safety is his true position have caused his stock to take a hit.
