Peyton Manning Breaks All-Time TD Record

Move over Brett Favre. In Sunday’s game against the 49ers, Peyton Manning threw for 4 touchdowns, pushing his career total to 510, 2 more than Favre’s all-time record of 508.

This isn’t just one more record the future hall-of-famer can add to his collection. He already holds the record for most MVP designations with 5 total from the 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2013 seasons. Last season, Manning also set the record for most touchdowns in a single regular season with 55.

His mark of 510 and counting is sure to stand for quite some time. The closest players to the 510 touchdown total, Drew Brees and Tom Brady, both have 372 career touchdowns, and they are both over 35 years old so it is more than likely they will retire before they even come close to Manning’s record.

The record-breaking pass was an 8-yard strike to Demaryius Thomas in the 2nd quarter. The Denver receivers had a little fun with Manning when he came to collect his record-breaking football. When Manning approached Thomas, Thomas initiated an impromptu game of monkey-in-the-middle and threw the ball over Manning’s (large) head to Emmanuel Sanders, who threw it to Welker, who threw it Julius Thomas.

After this round of teasing, Manning finally got his ball. He isn’t going to want to let go of this one.
