NFL Fantasy Football Matchup Cheat Sheet: Oakland Raiders
In NFL daily fantasy leagues, matchups are important. Pay attention to favorable matchups rather than the overall quality of individual players. It is better to select an above-average offensive player facing poor to average defense than an elite talent facing above-average to elite defense.
Each position is ranked according to one of these four ratings: Elite, Above-average, Average, and Poor.
Offense
QB Matt Schuab: Average
RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren McFadden: Average
WR1 James Jones: Average
WR2 Rod Streater: Average
Slot WR Denarius Moore: Average
TE Mychal Rivera: Average
O-line: LT Donald Penn, LG Khalif Barnes, C Stefen Wisinsiewski, RG Austin Howard, RT Menelik Watson: Above-average
The line is good, but there are no weapons here. The bulk of this offense is made up of players that are past their prime (Matt Schuab, Maurice Jones-Drew, James Jones) and shouldn’t be expected of much now. Avoid all Oakland offensive players.
Defense
CB1 Tarell Brown: Above-average
CB2 D.J. Hayden: Average
Nickel CB Carlos Rodgers: Average
Safeties: SS Tyvon Branch, FS Charles Woodson: Average
Linebackers: WLB Sio Moore, MLB Nick Roach, SLB Khalil Mack: Average
D-line: DE Lamarr Woodley, DT Pat Sims, DT Antonio Smith, DE Justin Tuck: Above-average
The Raiders spent a lot of money this offseason to patch up their defense, especially their d-line. The additions of Woodley and Tuck should be especially helpful. Still, this defense isn’t particularly strong, so don’t let a matchup with Oakland stop you from taking an offensive player of any position. However, this defense isn’t particularly weak either, so don’t seek out a matchup with Oakland as well.
