2011 NFL Week 5 Picks & Predictions
As we head into week 5 of the 2011 NFL season, we have some excellent all around games, and also some excellent betting options as well. Last week featured some interesting outcomes, and this week should be just as exciting. We’re going to take a look at some of the best games, and best bets that we found when taking a look at the NFL betting lines for week 5 of the season. Let’s get right into it.
New York Jets at New England Patriots
This one should be one of the best all around games of the week, and it’s also a great betting option. The Jets have looked awful lately, just flat out terrible. But do you really think that Rex Ryan is going to let his team play this bad against the team who hates more than any other? Very doubtful. Mark Sanchez has been bad, but I think that he’ll be prepared for this one, and that the Jets will keep it close. While I don’t think that the Jets are going to win the game, I think that the point spread of +9 that was given to them at BetOnline is too many points. That’s why I’m betting on the Jets +9 here.
Cincinnati Bengals at Jacksonville Jaguars
Say what you want about this Cincinnati Bengals team, but they’ve been competitive. They were expected to be one of the worst teams in the entire NFL, and they’re currently 2-2 with a recent win against the Buffalo Bills who were 3-0 before. One other thing to note is the fact that the Bengals two losses have been by a combined seven points. This team is determined to prove the critics wrong, and I think they’ll do just that against a Jaguars team who is still trying to find their identity. They have a rookie quarterback in their as well, but the Bengals’ Andy Dalton has been solid; while Blaine Gabbert is still going through a pretty big learning curve. I’m all over the Bengals +1.5 here.
Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts
The battle of the bad. This could be the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, but one thing stuck out to me about these two teams last week. While the Chiefs won their game against the 0-4 Vikings; the Colts put forth quite the effort with quarterback Curtis Painter in there, and I think that he’ll have a good game against this beat up Chiefs defense. The Colts played a great game in their last one at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I think that they’ll be good enough to knock off the Chiefs in week 5. I’m betting on the Indianapolis Colts -1.5 at home here.
Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills
Last but not least, is the Eagles on the road. The ex “dream team” is now 1-3, and is in what is essentially an early season must win for them. The Eagles have been up and down, and blew a 20 point lead last week; but I think that they’ll come out with a new attitude in this game. I like Michael Vick to lead this team to a big win and send them to 2-3. The line on this game is set at -2.5 for the road team, and I’m betting on the Eagles -2.5 here.
Recap of my week 5 bets
- Jets +9
- Bengals +1.5
- Colts -1.5
- Eagles -2.5
