NFL Week 2 Free Pick: Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Seattle Seahawks @ Pittsburgh Steelers Sun. Sept. 18, 2011 1 p.m. EST

Last season the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to get to the Super Bowl once again by being one of the most dominant defenses in the NFL and as experienced as they come in the playoffs with Big Ben Roethlisberger leading the way under center. Even though the Steelers are still considered to be one of the league’s elite teams, Pittsburgh got off to a rough start this season after being destroyed by the division rival Baltimore Ravens right out of the gate, 35-7.

In Week 2, Big Ben and company will try to get back on track playing host to the lowly Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks may have made some drastic improvements to their offense in the off-season by adding Pro Bowlers like tight end Zach Miller and wide receiver Sidney Rice, but those new offensive additions have had little impact as the Seahawks fell to the division rival San Francisco 49ers in convincing fashion (33-17) in Week 1.

The Seattle Seahawks might be a good team in the near future with playoff aspirations, but in Week 2 they are destined to get dominated by a better all-around team in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Not only are the Seahawks outmatched, but they will be facing a Steelers squad looking to redeem themselves for their disappointing loss last week.

As of right now, the Pittsburgh Steelers are favored to win this game with a -15 point spread according to sportsbook sites like GamblingNerd.com. That spread is huge and the biggest so far this season. Even though the Steelers will win this game, it would be a bit risky to take this large spread on a team that got manhandled last week.

Take the Seahawks at +15.
